I just started to take Tetracycline acne. How long will my acne get worse before it gets better?

I just started taking tetracycline capsules of 500 mg per day, mild to moderate acne. My doctor told me that my acne could worsen before they improve. How much long should it take before my acne better? Also, I use the excess topical treatments, in addition to tetracycline? Thank you!
